Nigeria spends 5 times less per person on healthcare than SA

The Nigerian government has a “poor attitude” towards financing healthcare, a national newspaper stated recently. To make its case, it compared Nigeria’s health spend to that of South Africa.“It has been reported that South Africa spends about seven times more per head on healthcare than Nigeria does,” Nigeria has budgeted N340.5 billion for health in 2018, or about 3.9% of the total budget. Police recover 948 arms in Sokoto

The Police Command in Sokoto State said it had recovered 948 guns under the state amnesty programme and police operations in last 24 months.The Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr Murtala Mani, disclosed this at a news conference in Sokoto on Wednesday, Mani said the recovered and surrendered weapons, included AK47, double and single barrel and locally fabricated guns with 1,200 ammunition. Ex-police officer Katitu sentenced to 15 years imprisonment for murder
